For more than a decade, construction activity to improve local mobility and safety on and around Research Forest Drive has been facilitated by the Westwood Magnolia Parkway Improvement District and numerous partners. Today, residents, visitors, and service providers enjoy tremendous results from these efforts. Approximately 34% of District shopping revenue comes from Woodlands zip codes, while traffic flow has increased and simplified in the Ellisor Elementary area.

Putting local dollars at work for local improvements

With over $5 million in project financing, improvements included the Research Forest Drive extension, median paving improvements, a dedicated turning lane with an R-turn extension, a large detention basin and a stormwater management cleanup project. The combined improvements provide greater access for police, fire and emergency vehicles, significantly increased shopping and business traffic, and generally improved mobility for residents and visitors.

See for yourself the effects of this positive collaboration with shared finances and resources to enhance the community within the District and beyond!
